The garden is well-known for its snowdrop collection. There are clumps of several hundred different varieties (all labelled), demonstrating to visitors the diversity in size of flower, colour and shape of leaves, times of flowering and variation of green or yellow markings on these lovely flowers. I think we appreciate them all the more for the fact that they flower in the darker months of the year. I also grow many fine hellebores, mainly from Helen Ballard, Eric Smith, Will McLewin, R D Plants and Ashwoods Nurseries. There are also lots of winter-flowering shrubs, pulmonarias, cyclamen and primroses to examine and admire. The garden is open from 10.30 - 5 on the last 2 Sundays in February. Our February opening is always popular with visitors and we all agree that we are very happy to be out in the garden again after the short dark days of winter! Unusual snowdrops are offered for sale on our plant table on these open days. There are usually plenty to go round. We were invited to be the garden to visit for the February 2008 Galanthus Gala (see pictures below) Several hundred people from all over Europe visited us! We thoroughly enjoyed the day and made lots of new friends, as well as welcoming "old" ones.
