(An
english country garden in a beautiful setting)
Why not visit our garden and
collect your Snape Stakes at the same time?
NOT "JUST" SNOWDROPS AND
HELLEBORES!
THE GARDEN IS PLANTED FOR ALL THE
YEAR INTEREST AND IS WORTH VISITING EVERY MONTH
Snape Cottage Garden is made on a
south-facing hillside of underground springs, which makes it ideal
for growing the thousands of
rare and well-loved bulbs and
perennials which we enjoy.
There are exciting collections of
snowdrops, hellebores, old daffodils, pulmonarias, auriculas, hardy
geraniums,
dianthus,
irises and asters, so there is always something to see and admire.
Angela Whinfield has a
special
interest
in History and Natural History , and there are many ancient and
unusual varieties,
each with a fascinating story,
amongst the plants in the garden.
Great
care has been taken to plant in harmony with the surrounding landscape and
there is a fine view
and
plenty of seats.
This
organically-managed garden, with its pond and hay meadow, is a haven
for wildlife (61 bird species noted)
Everything
is clearly labelled, and we hope people will come here to learn (bring a
notebook!)
